Wild life sites near your Avocet Break apartment

Dunwich Heath - a National Trust property adjacent to Minsmere RSPB reserve.  Wander through the heather - spectacular in August - visit the Coastguards' cottages for views out to sea, a snack or meal, then browse around the NT shop.

RSPB Reserve at Minsmere - encouraging breeding of Avocet, Little Tern, Bittern, the spectacular Marsh Harrier and many other species.  Excellent new visitor centre.

RSPB Reserve on Havergate Island - genuine wilderness on a huge shingle island, a stone's throw from Orford.

Rendlesham Forest - now recovered from the devastation of the Great Storms of 1987 and 1989.  Picnic areas, cycle ways and waymarked walks.

Daisy's Walk is a particularly delightful short walk nearby
